Why is this medicine prescribed?

It is not recommended to take this medicine if:

• you are taking Nexium tablets or capsules in the form of capsules.
• you are currently taking a medicine called Nexium which is not suitable for you.
• you are taking Nexium containing a medicine called Nexium, or you are taking an ingredient in Nexium. This is not recommended for you.

How should this medicine be used?

The recommended dose of Nexium is one tablet every 4 to 6 hours, or one tablet every 24 hours, depending on the individual case and the condition being treated. It is important that you take this medicine with food, preferably at the same time each day, to avoid stomach upset. It is also important that you take it on an empty stomach, at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal, to reduce the chance of stomach upset. Do not take Nexium in the following cases:
